XXIV INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL "LANDING PLACE FOR DANCE" GORZÓW 2017
IN GORZOW WLKP., POLAND
The International Dance Festival has been taking place for over twenty years at the end of June, beginning of July, in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland. The festival organizers are: city Gorzów Wlkp. and Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury (Youth Culture Centre). Festival director: Krzysztof Szupiluk.
For a couple of years it joined folk and various forms of contemporary dance lovers, who on one stage presented their skills, culture, folklore and talent. But for the last four years separate editions have been prepared. This year we have had a contemporary event called "LANDING PLACE FOR DANCE", 27.06 - 2.07.2017. In the 24th edition of the festival dominated dance styles like jazz, modern, contemporary. A category of dance theater was introduced as a longer stage form. Participated totally 22 groups, about 400 people, from 4 countries: 17 Poland, 3 Belarus, 2 Ukraine, 1 Bulgaria
An inaugural concert "Welcome to Gorzów" took place in the amphitheater on the first day. This is always a great event for the festival organizer MDK groups: "Buziaki", "Aluzja" and "Mali Gorzowiacy", and other dance groups from Gorzów. The festival was officially opened by the President of the City Mr. Jacek Wójcicki and an Education Curator Ms. Ewa Rawa. Apart from the invited groups, there was also the audience of about 3000 inhabitans that applauded young dancers.
On 28th June the Festival guests entered the competition to compete for awards and recognitions. Gorzów Theater gave a permission to use its stage for presentations.
The jury consisted of the highest class pedagogues and choreographers:
Krystyna Frąckowiak - Professor of Education, dancer, pedagogue, choreographer, specializing in jazz, modern and contemporary techniques, Ballet General School in Poznań.
Anna Piotrowska - dancer, choreographer, performer, producer, director; Artistic director of the Dance Theater ROZBARK in Bytom.
Zornitsa Petrova - Bulgarian dancer, educator and choreographer
The next day the festival participants were invited by the president of the city and the Lubuskie Voivode for an official visit, refreshments and exchange of gifts.
In the afternoon our guests had the opportunity to spend their time actively at the bowling and recreational pool.
On Saturday, July 1 participants waited anxiously for the Gala Concert, during which awards and recognitions were presented. Gold, Silver and Bronze Landing Places are statues and at the same time the main festival awards. After the enthusiastic applause it was time to announce the results of the competition. The Artistic Council awarded awards and recognitions in three categories of dance and age.
Next folk edition of IDF "FOLK HARBOR" will take place in 2018.
